raig Curry’s original setting of the traditional Advent text is bold and energetic, perfectly capturing all the excitement and anticipation of the Savior’s coming. The driving rhythm of the piano and optional percussion sets the stage, joined quickly by the voices, first in unison and then in canon, topped off by a soaring trumpet. This impelling anthem culminates with a shout of joy, “Maranatha” — “O Lord, come!”
Instrumental parts and score are available separately here. (tpt, timpani, snare drum, cymbals)
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lowly exile here
Until the Son of God appear.
O come, Thou Dayspring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, shall come to thee, O Israel.
Maranatha!
O come, Thou Wisdom from on high
And order all things here and nigh
To us the path of knowledge show
And cause us in her ways to go.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, shall come to thee, O Israel.
Maranatha!
